Lyla's First Easter

I told you I'd get to another post soon! YAY ME!

So for Lyla's first Easter we were in KC. We had visited Wichita the weekend before to visit family and Chris' aunts and grandma.

Friday evening we went up to Bass Pro Shop to see the Easter Bunny. We waited in line for a bit but the photo is free and we can take our own as well. There was an adorable little girl in front of us that just couldn't get over how cute Lyla was. It was sweet. She just wanted to initally explore and play with the bunny. Then we FINALLY got a smile and everyone in line went "awww..."

On Saturday we went to the church where I attend MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) for an Easter Egg Hunt. Lyla wasn't sure about the whole hunt part of it. She would grab the eggs I handed her and attempt to reach but not thrilled about it. Oh well! That's what first Easter's are for right?!

That evening we dyed eggs. She just wanted to grab the whole big bowl of hard boiled eggs and "eat" them. It was funny! She enjoyed watching us dye them though. We also left carrots for the Easter bunny. She needed to try them out before he did!

That morning, we found a new toy, a cute pink lamb and Easter basket full of yummy goodies. She sure did want to eat the goodies. That evening we ate an Easter dinner that was delicious. Lyla tried a little bit of ham and didn't seem to mind it. She's such an odd eater...I will never understand her eating habits I think!

Below is a video of her talking and her clicking her tongue.

Oh how times flies!

Sorry all for not posting in a LONG time. We've been keeping busy! We have had family visit and just been enjoying the nice weather when we can.

So Lyla is now 7 1/2 months! Time sure is flying with her. She's babbling, doing more funny noises with her mouth, loves to play "Copy Cat", and just yesterday she pulled to a stand in the laundry basket all on her own! YIKES! There is a video below. She's been trying to do this for a week or so now. She's eating all sorts of food but is kinda finicky about eating. It's either a hit or miss with her.

For her "half" birthday, daddy spoiled her and got her two new toys. He got her a classic ring stacker and an adorable ladybug learning toy. She "danced" for the first time with a toy she had gotten from her Uncle Mike and Aunt Rachael for Christmas. (Here's the link).

We are finally also doing some sleep training. Night 1 was a NIGHTMARE! Night 2 was better. And it's generalizing to her naps as well. YAY! Night 3 is tonight...hoping it's even better because it was sure nice to really sleep! But through all of this, I found out that she can log roll and scoot backwards a bit. She's all over that crib when she's throwing a fit!

Our basement is looking wonderful! We have a TV, couch, end tables and a game in there. It sure will be a nice escape when summer comes. Now the task is the garage. My parents were nice enough to come and help out with cleaning it out. Now we are just painting the floor with the Epoxy paint that allows you to just wipe up whatever spills no problem. Then just re-organize it. It will sure be nice to have our garage back!

Last weekend Lyla met her great-grandma Norma and great-Aunts Patty, Theresa & Mary. It was a great weekend with Chris' family. We took our nephews and Lyla to the Botanic Garden in Wichita. Everyone had a great time I think!

We are very excited for Easter this weekend. I think we are going to go to the church I've been attending MOPS at for the egg hunt and then for service on Sunday. We are going to visit the Easter Bunny as well. I think she will be okay with the bunny. She's still okay with new people and being "passed" around. She just a very happy and content baby most times.

Enjoy the pictures! :)

February Fun

So it's been awhile since I've last posted. Life has been busy! The basement is 95% finished. The carpet has been ordered. We are waiting to get an install date. The bathroom down there is almost finished as well. Just needs baseboards (on Monday) and the shower head installed (someday).

Lyla has changed so much recently. She's now sitting up pretty good. She will still tip back and to the side but a lot less frequently. She can easily sit up by herself for 3-5 minutes. :) She's making the "easy" fishy face/noise and combining it with some more babbling. She has a "new" toy, her exersaucer. She LOVES it! A friend from MOPS was getting rid of hers and it was the one I was going to buy...so I bought it from her. BEST THING!

We have started different veggies and fruits. We have done sweet potato and apple so far. Sweet potato was a hit. Apples...yep not as much. The picture below explains it all! :) BEST PICTURE EVER!!! Tonight is squash. I've enjoyed making the food myself. I have a great baby food maker that Lyla got for Christmas.

We had a nice Valentines' Day at home. In the morning and afternoon we went to our MOPS coffee shop play group. It was the first time, but wonderful! We met two other babies that our age. One little girl about 2 weeks older than us and a little boy 4 days older than us. :) That night Chris cooked dinner, steak, crab legs and potatoes! YUM! We then had our hearts broken by KU but we won't talk about that!

We have enjoyed the wonderful weather outside. We've gone on family walks again. So awesome...except when Lyla decides that her stroller isn't good enough...2 out of 3 times it's been a no go. Once I had to hold her the whole time, the other time I had her in a carrier. Hopefully when the weather is consistenly nice, we can go on walks with the family and with a friend and her little boy Lyla's age just down the street during the day!

Well that's it for today. Enjoy the photos below. AND a video of her new talking. :)

HAPPY 5 MONTHS!

At this time 5 months ago, our beautiful little girl entered this world! Time sure has flown by!!! It just seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital and couldn’t stop staring at her every waking moment. (We still have that problem!) It is so crazy how quickly they grow up. It’s been so much fun looking back at pictures seeing how little she is and how big she’s gotten. She’s still a little pip squeak compared to some of our friend’s kid-os. But still!

It hasn’t started snowing just yet here. We got some rain or ice this morning…not sure what because I don’t want to be out there. It’s so COLD!!! That’s the one thing I just really hate about winter. It gets just SSSOOO cold. YUCK!

The pictures posted are from today! Well and one from the day she was born. The first outfit is from her Grandpa Randy (Chris’ dad). He’s a Harley guy now, so she has an adorable Harley onesie. The other outfit is from her Grandma Gloria (Chris’ mom). Just too cute!

Keep warm out there.

Lyla Bean and Mommy

So it's been awhile since I've blogged. We have gotten a TON of snow and it's been COLD. The past couple days have been NICE and wonderful though. It's so nice to be able to get out of the house instead of being "trapped" in. We are supposed to get another round of snow this week....not thrilled at all!

Our little Miss Lyla is a hoot! She recently has discovered her voice. She's figured out how to scream, shriek and shrill. She's also figured out how high her voice can go. It's hysterical. She will start out really quiet and just go as high as she can get. She's still as happy as can be. Here is a link of her screaming in her Jumperoo. The video is below.

We are FINALLY over our ear infection. After two different antibiotics, Lyla is better. She’s teething as well. Her bottom two teeth are right there about to pop. One of our friend’s is a dental hygienist…she thinks they will be in about a week. I’m holding her to that! LOL!

This week I’ve been able to pamper myself a bit. I got a haircut…just chopped it all off. Lyla is CONSTANTLY grabbing it and it HURTS! So I’m back to short. Today I had the BEST pedicure in town. I had a coupon from a local circular for a cheap pedicure. Went and it’s the best I’ve ever had. It’s was at Shear Lightening. It’s a new salon in town. Will definitely be visiting them again.

At my MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) group this week we had the KC coupon lady visit. AND I am pumped to save money! I am entirely motivated to become a couponer (more than now) and a strategic shopper. I've always been a person to try to get the best deal and realize, well I might as well stock up on this good deal, but I'm ready to become better!

Enjoy the video! :)

Crafts!

So I'm staying true to my resolution of being craftier this year. I've already completed 3ish projects. I've already posted the bow holder I made. But here is another project.

I made a calendar for Lyla's door. My good friend Kylie gave me the idea. It's just for her to record milestones and to just list special things we did, such as Grandma visited or it's snowed a lot today etc. It was pretty simple, just took some time. I found 12x12 scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby on sale. Picked random paper I thought was "pretty". I cut them all down to a 10x10. Then I had to get plain white paper and cut it down to 10x10. I customized a calendar through Office and printed it off. From there it was just putting it together. I could have stuck with the 12x12 to make it easier, but then you don't have the accents on the actual calendar part to use. I guess you can always just use a colored paper for that as well. I'm going to print off a picture from the beginning of that month to put on that page. I then am going to write a little statement on the accent pieces of a few things she was all about that month. Below are a few pictures of the calendar.

Another thing I've been doing is making simple Valentine's Day clippies and simple bows. I'm making them for her and as simple little items to give to friend's of mine with little girls. I'm all about bows and clippies, so I'm going to pass on the passion to other. :) We can't wear the clippies just yet, but I can easily slip them on a headband.

And of course, I can't forget to post something about our little bean. We've been getting over the ear infection we had at our 4 month appointment. It either came back or never went away. SO we had to move to another antibiotic...of course more expensive. She's FINALLY feeling better I believe. She's figured out how to make raspberries with sticking out her tongue...lovely right?! AND she's really getting this rolling over thing as well. She's done it 2 other times since her first time. I've really tried hard to do more tummy time and letting her get out of it. Below is a picture of her in some jammies that her Grandma Gloria got her. The middle one is where she fell asleep in her Jumperoo last week. The last one is just a cute onesie and her sticking her tongue out at me. :)

YAY LYLA!

It was an exciting evening for Lyla. She rolled from her tummy to back for the first "real" time. She did it on accident, with the help of the carpet and throwing a fit just right, on Christmas day. But this time, it was for real! :) YAY! We are not a big fan of tummy time and don't always find a lot of time for it with her reflux.

I'm hoping this night of good things will continue! We've been doing some sleep training in the house. We've been working on sleeping in her bassinet all night versus co-sleeping on and off. It was a LONG first night of up every hour, and the second night was full of a good handful of crying instead of mommy "rescuing" her from the bassinet but not up as often. Tonight is the third night...I've heard 3 is the magic number...I'm sure praying for it to be! I sure would love to go to MOPS tomorrow. It's sure hard to motivate myself to get up early when I know she will sleep in when I'm that tired.

The picture below is her in her KU jersey that our friend's Adam & Meghan got her for Christmas. It's a little big, but works as a make-shift dress. ROCK CHALK! :) AANNNDDD a cute outfit from her Grandma Linda.

Keep warm!!
